Only if…

To those of you who sit in the sea of scoffers,
Who mock Truth and all of His children.
To those of you who never leave the state of a child,
a child of wrath and of pungence.
Who laugh at the face of reality,
rejecting all authority as if it is bitter on your tongue.
To you who welcome death with laughter,
who live blind and deaf with no discernment.
You will die,
and there is no happiness in your death.
Regret will never relent from upon your head.
“Only if…” will be like water in your mouth and lungs,
drowning you forevermore.
Only if I had not scoffed at wisdom’s kin.
Only if I had grown away from evil.
Only if I had listened to the reality’s whisper.
Only if I had been solemn with death.
only if.
only if.
only if.
Yet the “if” is a mirage,
Fool’s gold meant to torture
over and over again.
All that will be left,
is “only.”
There is only torture.
There is only regret.
There is only weeping.
There is only wrath.
The “if”
Is merely salt in your wounds.
A vinegar-soaked sponge in your mouth.
Yet for those of you who seek Truth,
wherever He may lead.
Those of you who help the poor
and teach the young.
Those of you who honor the sting and sweetness of reality.
Those of you who do not even deal with death
but instead hand him to your Maker.
You will be blessed.
Joy and conviction will go sweetly on your tongue.
Honor will never leave your head.
You shall not even think of “if,”
for you live in the “only” too.
Only joy.
Only honor.
Only laughter.
Only mercy.
